Shaping our data-driven DNA: A conversation with Liquidity legend Mujde Ayik

Having celebrated her 4-year work anniversary at Liquidity in March 2026, our fabulous Senior Data Scientist Mujde Ayik has been instrumental in building Liquidity’s analytical foundations.
Bringing a uniquely diverse background that spans defense, aviation, banking and academia, Mujde joined as the first female in our Data Science Team and one of the first cohorts of our Abu Dhabi office. Drawn by Liquidity’s entrepreneurial energy and the chance to build from scratch, she has since played an important role in developing the AI frameworks and predictive models that drive our business success today.
We sat down with Mujde to find out more about her journey, her fondest Liquidity memories and what keeps her inspired every day.
What were you doing before joining Liquidity?
I worked across a wide range of industries including defense, insurance, banking, marketing analytics and aviation. My background combines mechanical engineering, machine learning and advanced analytics. I had the opportunity to build predictive and decision-support systems for very different business environments, from aviation predictive maintenance and risk modeling to customer analytics and financial products.
I was also actively involved in mentorship and education. I mentored aspiring data professionals through Coding Nomads and worked as a part-time university lecturer, which allowed me to share practical data science knowledge while continuing to learn from students and professionals across different backgrounds.
What drew you to join Liquidity in the first place?
What attracted me most was the opportunity to build things from scratch and have real impact early on. Liquidity had an entrepreneurial energy, ambitious vision and a strong belief in using technology and data differently within finance. I joined very early in the journey and I was excited by the idea of helping shape both the analytical foundations and the culture of the company.
“There is a strong culture of ownership and innovation, which I think is part of Liquidity’s DNA.”
In your opinion, how has Liquidity evolved over the past 4 years? And what has remained the same?
The scale and sophistication have grown tremendously: the technology, products, teams and global presence are on a completely different level today. We’ve evolved from a small, fast-moving group into a much more mature organisation with deeper infrastructure and broader capabilities.
What has remained the same is the pace, ambition and willingness to challenge traditional ways of doing things. There is still a strong culture of ownership and innovation, which I think is part of Liquidity’s DNA.
What has been your biggest win as part of the Liquidity team?
One of my biggest wins has been helping build and operationalise AI- and data-driven decision systems that directly support investment and risk analysis. Over the years, I’ve worked on predictive valuation models, explainability frameworks, evaluation systems for LLMs and analytical platforms that translate complex data into actionable insights for business teams.
But beyond the technical achievements, I’m most proud of contributing during the company’s formative years and helping build foundations that continue to evolve today.
What do you value most about Liquidity?
The opportunity to create meaningful impact and continuously learn. Liquidity gives people room to take ownership, think independently and push ideas forward. I also value working with highly intelligent and driven people from different backgrounds, it creates an environment where you are constantly growing.
“There’s something very rewarding about building systems that help people make better decisions.”
What is your fondest memory while working here?
Some of my fondest memories are actually from the early days, with small teams solving big problems under pressure, long brainstorming sessions, celebrating milestones together and seeing ideas turn into real systems and products. There was a very unique energy in those early years that I’ll always remember.
One thing that makes me especially proud is having joined very early in the company’s journey and witnessing firsthand how much Liquidity has grown over the years. It’s been rewarding to contribute not only to technical initiatives, but also to the culture, energy and collaborative spirit that helped shape the company in its early stages.
What challenges have you had to overcome during your time here? If any.
Like any fast-growing company, scaling comes with challenges. One of the biggest has been navigating ambiguity while building complex systems in areas where there often isn’t a predefined roadmap. It required balancing technical depth with business needs, adapting quickly and learning continuously as the company evolved.
What do you enjoy most about what you do?
I enjoy solving complex problems and finding patterns in seemingly chaotic data. I also enjoy translating highly technical concepts into something useful and understandable for business teams. There’s something very rewarding about building systems that help people make better decisions.

What is the best part of your working day?
The best moments are usually collaborative ones: brainstorming with the team, discussing new ideas or seeing a difficult problem finally click into place after a lot of experimentation. I also genuinely enjoy the creative side of analytical work.
A huge thank you to Mujde for taking the time to share her insights and experiences with us. Her story is a perfect reminder of how far we’ve come as a business and how much of our success is driven by a shared culture of determination to challenge the status quo.
